The Latest We'll update this page regularly with the latest goings-on here at the website and its companion blog. Sept. 16, 2010 - It's been pretty quiet here on the site and over at the blog: We have no major outdoor adventures planned. We drove the entire Lake Superior Circle Tour earlier this summer and made mental notes as to where to return with our kayaks, but the kayaking will have to wait for another year. Eric also has been mulling the ambitious idea of Gunflint to Ely Canoe in reverse...that is, Ely to Gunflint Canoe. The proposed route would follow the Voyageurs Highway along the border lakes, from Basswood to Rose Lake via Knife, Saganaga, and Gunflint Lakes, among others. Eric is just serious enough about this expedition to have acquired some maps. If and when the trip gets off the ground, you can expect to hear about it here on the site. May 5 - We posted the Day 5 trip report and photos a week or so ago. Now, get ready for the conclusion of the adventure...the rest of the photo galleries and the final three days of the trip report will be posted and live by Thursday, May 7! April 9 - We've made a few revisions to the expedition photo galleries. All of the images have been re-sized and optimized for sharp, high-quality viewing. They may take slightly longer to load. March 15 - Finally, we're back to working on getting the remainder of the trip report online. We were forced to make an "emergency" computer upgrade in February when our workhorse desktop's motherboard died. The new Dell took three weeks to arrive, so we were on limited - and borrowed - computing power during most of February. Now that we've got then new system up and running and have adjusted to Windows Vista, it's Eric's goal to get the rest of the trip report online ASAP. Please check back by the end of the month! (Until then, we invite you check out the report on Day 1 and Day 2.) Join us at the Gunflint to Ely Canoe Blog to find out what we did to get ready for the trip and for other chatter about paddling, canoe country, and the great Minnesota outdoors. | |
